The busiest and most musically diverse week of my summer performance season starts tonight! Three of the fine dancers from the Rebecca Kelly Ballet and I will be giving a preview performance of Air, our collaborative work, tonight at the Tannery Pond Arts Center. Our rehearsal yesterday was the first time we had all been together since the early stages of this piece, back in March in NYC - it is a wicked cool piece and it is just so much fun to perform it live with dancers!
The arrangements that Mark Laycock, artistic director and conductor of the LP Sinfonietta, has done for the O Carolan pieces I will be performing with them tomorrow night are terrific! Each piece has a different and delightful sound and feel. I'm so looking forward to performing with the fine musicians of the Sinfonietta.
Oh, I just love my job!!

So, the other day my neighbor, Milt the Minister, e-mails me and tells me to update my "musings". So, I thought I'd do just that!
Had a great summer - busy, but not crazy! Took the opportunity to celebrate my mom's 80th(!) birthday and travel with my folks back to the lands of my roots - NH, Vermont, & Maine. Beautiful time at the beach (the Atlantic was definitely warmer 40 years ago, or so my Mom tells me!), loved going through Lost River again with my Dad (he was a guide there 55 years ago - oh, the stories he tells!!), and stopping in at Gillingham's Store in Woodstock, Vt., where my Grandpa had once worked, being good friends with the family, and my Mom used to visit on trips to the Rutland family farm. The trip and the time with my folks was a real treat. (I'm still working on my Mom's b'day present, though - it's a song about her and her piano - inspirations to me!)
Looking to return to NE next summer with Harper's Delight. Let me know if you know of places that would like to present us in concert - you'll be our guest at the concert if we get the gig!
Toodaloo, folks - got to go pull in the furniture down by the river - rain's a-comin'! (OK, Milt?)

Hi Folks,
She's a beauty, the Irish Harp, and I'm delighted to be honoring Irish harps, Irish music, and Irish harpers in the upcoming concerts, The Wild Harps of Ireland! Sue, Elizabeth and I, plus our special guests, have been having a grand time planning and working on these concerts. It's sent me back to my trad. roots: I'm delving into the trad. harp techniques and thoroughly enjoying it. It's like when you walk the same path for a while, but then you turn around after passing something you've passed a million times and it's beauty suddenly surprises you, because now you're seeing it from a different angle, in a different light. What a joy!
If you go to my Events page, you will find all the details about the concert. Hope to see you there!
